Questions About This Quiz
What age is this quiz designed for?
This quiz is designed for parents of youth baseball players ages 8–16 who are considering travel baseball or are already in a travel program. The mental skills measured become increasingly critical as competition level rises.
What does "mentally ready for travel baseball" actually mean?
It means a player can manage pre-game anxiety, recover from errors within the same inning, accept coaching feedback without shutting down, and maintain effort and attitude through slumps and high-pressure moments. It's not about being fearless — it's about having tools to compete despite the pressure.
My kid scored low — does that mean they shouldn't play travel ball?
Not at all. A low score means the mental skills haven't been taught yet — not that your kid lacks the capability. Most youth players have never received structured mental skills training. The score is a starting point, not a verdict. These skills are highly trainable at any age.
How is this different from just asking my kid if they like baseball?
Loving baseball and being mentally equipped to handle travel baseball pressure are different things. A kid can love the game deeply but still struggle with anxiety, catastrophize errors, or need hours to emotionally recover after a loss. This quiz specifically measures the mental skills that predict whether a player will thrive — or burn out — in a competitive environment.
